Erodex Tooling Solutions or ETS started life in 1963, under the name BWP Technical Services. The creation of three draughtsmen from which the name was formed, Mr Billings, Mr Wilson and Mr Paul set out to support the aerospace, automotive and food industries from their Dorset offices. BWP specialised in providing designs of jigs, fixtures, gauges and special purpose machinery, which has continued to be an integral part of the business.
In 2009, BWP became a member of the Erodex group and by early 2016, was renamed Erodex Tooling Solutions.
Since 2009 we have seen Erodex Tooling Solutions grow significantly, adding a second design office in the Midlands and two facilities dedicated to tooling manufacture and refurbishment, one based at the UK head office and another in Virginia, USA. This expansion has seen us venture into new foreign markets and continue to grow our reputation for the quality of our work, offering a more streamlined service and a one stop shop for all tooling needs.
Erodex Tooling Solutions is the tooling division of Erodex and specialise in the design and manufacture of tooling, along with the design of EDM Electrodes. Predominantly working in aerospace and servicing a number of engine manufacturers, as well as their OEM supply chain, we are experts in tooling for aerospace and IGT blades, vanes & segments along with a variety of other engine components.
The advantage of working with ETS is our ability to fully project manage the customer’s requirement from start to finish. We are happy to work on projects from small, individual fixtures, to large handling tools for lifting, turnover and assembly.
Due to our in-depth product knowledge, we also work as integrators for machine manufacturers. The result is unparalleled support, helping to bring turnkey projects to production, in a greatly reduced time scale. As well as supporting the customer with their current production needs, we are also working closely with advanced manufacturing facilities and running our own internal R&D projects.
Through many years of graphite electrode and tooling design, we have a full understanding of blade, vane and segment geometry, enabling us to offer the optimum solution for production. This understanding of the component enables us to offer a full turnkey tooling solution for all operations, from initial casting to final coating and inspection.
In addition, our engineers also have many years of experience working on other engine components such as disks, blisks, shafts and casings. This experience working with complex component geometry enables us to support other industries, including automotive and medical.
Our scope of supply over the years has seen our customer base grow. Our durability has meant many customers who could not find a solution through their current supplier base have since worked with us and continued to do so for support on all aspects of tooling.
HANDLING AND ASSEMBLY TOOLING
With our understanding of component geometry and manufacturing processes, we have a greater understanding of how components interface with each other. From Formula 1 engine assembly to aero engine build and strip, this knowledge means our approach always keeps the end product at the centre of design.
In conjunction with the design process for this type of equipment, we also ensure the latest regulations are adhered to, such as full CE marking. This ensures that the finished product not only performs, but also gives the end user peace of mind in knowing it will do so safely.
